Cake:
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. quick oatmeal
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon

Topping:
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Mix boiling water and oatmeal. Let stand 20 minutes. Cream sugar & shortening. Add eggs one at a time. eat after each egg. Sift flour, measure, sift again with soda, salt & cinnamon. Add oatmeal last. Bake in 9x13 pan at 350º for 35-40 minutes.

Mix topping and spread over cake.
