Ingredients:
2 cups whipping cream
1 cup cereal cream
2 1/2 cups milk
3 eggs (beaten)
1 1/4 cup sugar
scant 1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Whip cream a little.

Add cereal cream, beaten eggs, milk, sugar, salt and vanilla. Beat.

Set outside to freeze. When starting to freeze, beat often until it is too hard to beat.

There is a lot of "beating" to make delicious, smooth ice cream. It's worth the work. You can't beat the flavour or freshness of this family favourite.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Aunty Gerry's ice cream is one of the best things about winter. My recollection is of Aunty scooping out vanilla ice cream from a tallish, straight metal container. The lid seemed to have a handle for stirring/churning the ice cream. The container would be brought in from outside, where it was bone chilling cold, and served to a table full of happy, chattering, warm children (and also adults). The scoops were small because there were many of us and the ice cream was so rich. We all looked forward to it because it melted instantly, and deliciously, in your mouth. Good times.
