1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
4 egg whites
1 c. hickory nuts

Directions:
Directions:
In mixing bowl mix butter and sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk. Separate eggs and beat egg whites until stiff. Fold egg whites and nuts into batter gently. Pour into 2 round greased and floured cake pans. Bake in a 350º oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

This was one of Grandma Flossie Chalcraft's recipes. She made this cake to take to Little Prairie Church's Picnic on the first Sunday in October.
