1 c. milk
½ c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 stick margarine
1 pkg. yeast
¼ c. very warm water
1 egg
4 c. flour

Filling:
½ c. flour
½ c. brown sugar
½ c. chopped pecans
1 ½ c. tart cherries

Directions:
Scald milk, and stir in sugar, salt, and margarine. Let stand until lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in very warm water (105º-115º), with a pinch of sugar. Allow yeast mixture to stand until bubbly. Stir together milk mixture, yeast mixture, egg, and half of flour beating until smooth. Add remaining flour and stir until smooth. Grease top of dough with oil and cover tightly. Place in refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or up to 2 days until ready to use.

Mix together filling ingredients. Divide dough into thirds, and roll into 3 rectangles, 9x4½ inches. Spread each with ⅓ of filling. Roll up and pinch firmly to seal dough. Place each on greased baking sheet, and curve into circular shape. On outer edge of rings, cut ½ through ring at 1 inch intervals. Twist each section sideways. Cover and let rise until double. Bake at 375º for 15-20 min. Cool 15 or 20 minutes. Ice with powdered sugar icing.

Mom used to make these often, at Christmas, decorating with red and green cherries to share with friends, and on Saturday mornings when she would often invite friends and neighbors for coffee.
