1 c. butter (1 c. cooking oil can be used)
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cream of tartar
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs. Stir in the lemon and vanilla. Combine flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda and stir into the sugar mixture. Cover dough and chill for at least an hour. Chill cookie sheets.

Cookie dough can be used in a cookie press, as a drop cookie, made into a roll and sliced, or used with cookie cutters.

Bake at 400º for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly golden around edges.
