2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup cold water
(mix and set aside)

1 3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
3/4 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/4 tsp salt
(mix together until smooth)
Directions:
Directions:
Mix both mixtures together pour into greased cake pan. Bake at 350º until center is done with a toothpick test. Cool and frost.
