1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. dates (chopped fine)
1/2 c. coconut
2 c. oatmeal
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar & shortening. Add eggs. Combine dry ingredients and add to the first mixture. Divide dough into 3 bowls. To each bowl add any favorite ingredients: chocolate chips, chopped gum drops, raisins, dried cherries,nut, etc. Make into walnut size balls, roll in sugar and flatten with a fork.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes or till very slightly browned.. ©
