Directions:
Put 1/2 cup milk and butter in pan. Heat until butter is melted-on low heat. Pour over sugar and salt. Let cool to lukewarm and add yeast and beaten egg. Mix well. Add half of the flour and beat with mixer until smooth. Add the rest of the flour and mix well. Dough will not be real stiff. Cover with saran wrap or towel, do not knead. Let rise until doubled. Turn out onto lightly floured board. Use as little flour as possible. Knead about 6 or 7 times. Then on a floured surface roll or pat out to make coffee cakes. This will make 2 coffee cakes. Place dough in a greased 8 or 9 inch round or square pan. Press dough out smoothly so it fits in the pan.

Apple Kuchen: Peel 2 apples. Slice very thin and place on top of dough as close together as possible. Spread melted butter over apples and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
