Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs slightly beaten
3 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
2-1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup whiskey
1 cup flour
8 cups - or - 2# walnut halves (I like 1/2 walnuts and 1/2 pecans)
1 lb. candied cherries - cut in halves
1 lb. candied pineapple diced (I like 8 oz. pineapple and 8 oz. orange rind)
1-3/4 cup white raisins

Directions:
You are going to need a huge bowl to mix and stir all of the ingredients together. Also a stout spoon to do it with.

Cream sugar with butter until blended. Beat in eggs. Dissolve soda in milk and blend into eggs and sugar mixture with the spices. Then blend in 2 cups flour and the whiskey.

Sift the 1 cup flour over walnuts, cherries, pineapple and raisins. Mix to coat well. Stir floured nuts and fruits into batter.

Drop by teaspoon onto greased baking sheets. Bake in 250º degree oven for 20-25 minutes. (20 minutes worked best for my oven.) Do not over-bake. Store in tightly covered containers. I let mine cool and put them into gallon freezer bags and put into refrigerator. Worked fine.

Note: Being a bit impatient, I experimented with the oven temperature and length of cooking time to speed things up, if possible.

First, I tried 350º for 15 min - too hot. Then 300º for 20 min - also too hot. Results are the best when you stick with what is recommended in the recipe.

Personal Notes:
I believe it's been about 30 years ago that I acquired this recipe through a recipe swap while working at the City of Auburn, WA. I made these and loved them and sent the recipe to my sister June who also loved them. I however, stuck the recipe away and forgot where it was. Luckily I keep things forever, and I recently found it again. They are wonderful cookies and are well worth the time and effort involved in making them.
