½ cup shortening
1 ½ cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 Tbs. maple flavoring
2 ¾ cups flour
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. baking soda
Brown Butter Frosting:
½ cup butter
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp. maple flavoring
2 Tbs. hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Cookies: In mixing bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in sour cream and maple flavor.
Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, mix well. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes or until edges lightly brown. Cool on wire racks.
Frosting: In small saucepan, heat butter over low heat until golden brown. Remove from heat, blend in powdered sugar, maple flavor and enough hot water to achieve spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies.
