2 sticks unsalted softened butter
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1½ cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 t vanilla
1 ½ cups all purpose flour
1 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
½ t salt
3 cups rolled Oats (Old Fashioned)
2 cups dried cherries (I used craisens)
(Optional: ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans.)

Directions:
With mixer beat butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until creamy and pale. Beat in 1 egg at a time until fully mixed-in then beat in the remaining egg. Beat in vanilla. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually beat into butter mixture. Stir in oats and cherries, mixing well.

Drop by rounded tablespoons onto cookie sheets leaving about 2 inches between cookies.
Bake until golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
