1 stick margarine
2 cups milk, scalded (hot, not boiling)
3 cups sugar
1/2 cup crisco
1 dozen eggs
3 packs dry yeast (dissolved in warm water)
4-5 tsp. anise seeds

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk, add sugar, margarine, crisco and mix until solids melt. Remove from heat and let cool.

Mix together flour, anise seeds and raisins in a large bowl.

When liquid is cooled, add yeast. Beat eggs and add to liquid mixture. Add to flour mixture in large bowl and kneed until dough is formed.

Allow to raise overnight in bowl. Punch it down in the morning and let it raise again another 10-15 minutes.

Cut pieces of dough and shape into loaves then let raise in prepared pans 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Brush tops of loaves with egg wash and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown.
