2 cups fine white sugar
1 lb butter or margarine
4 large eggs, well beaten
5 cups sifted flour
2 tsp baking soda
4 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp nutmeg

Icing:
1 cup icing sugar
1 tbsp water
½ tsp almond extract
food colouring

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375˚F. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Sift remaining ingredients. Roll dough to ¼” thickness. Cut in festive shapes. Bake 6-8 minutes. Cool and ice.

Mix to a glossy frosting. Decorate each cookie with mixed fruit peel or cherries. Makes 200 cookies.
