Ingredients:
2 cups Sugar
1 cup Shortening
1 tsp. Vanilla
3 eggs - well beaten
1 cup Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together in a large bowl: 2 cups sugar, 1 cup shortening. Add 1 tsp. vanilla, 3 eggs well beaten. Mix well.

Sift together 1 cup flour to start, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt. Add to creamed sugar mixture and mix well. Add a small amount of MILK and stir well.
Add enough sifted flour and milk, alternately, ending with flour, until it is thick enough to roll out. The dough should be soft for tender cookies. Too much flour will make them tough. The dough can be refrigerated to make rolling out easier. Roll out on lightly floured surface and cut into desired shapes.

Bake at 375 degrees until done. For crisp cookies, the edges should just barely start to turn brown. For chewy cookies, take out before browning starts. Sugar or frost cookies (depending on oven, the heat may need to be reduced to 350 degrees).
