1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
pinch salt
2 T. shortening
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cup sliced rhubarb
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add shortening, stir in milk and vanilla. Pour this mixture into 9x13 pan (grease bottom only.) Mix together rhubarb and 1/2 cup sugar. Spread over cake batter. Pour 1 cup hot water over entire mixture. Do not mix. Bake 35 - 40 min. at 400º
