1 cup cut-up pitted, uncooked prunes
1 cup boiling water
2 cups flour
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 tsp. soda
1 tsp. each cinnamon, nutmeg,cloves
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup chopped nuts
3 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over cut-up prunes. Let stand 2 hours. Heat oven to 350. Grease & flour pans. Blend dry ingredients. Add prune mixture and all other ingredients. Blend thoroughly. Beat 2 minutes on med speed on mixer. Pour into pans. Bake 9 x 13 for 45 to 50 minutes, Layer pans 35 to 40 minutes. Frost wth butter icing.

Note: 1 cup cut-up, pitted, unsweetened, cooked prunes may be used; substitute 2/3 cup prune juice for the 1 cup boiling water.
