Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup sweet milk
2 rounded teaspoons baking powder
1 level teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons shortening--lard, crisco in a can

Stir in enough flour to make batter stiff, then roll out or pinch out biscuits.

I didn't write down oven temp or length of baking...you can see I was new to the baking world. I would guess 350 or 375 and watch them after 10 minutes.

Directions:
Get new baking powder for good results! I know mine is about school age, so I am going to have to get some, just to try this out.. Grandma always used plain flour. I don't remember any self-rising in the pantry. "Pinch out" must just picking out small amounts of dough and filling the pan.

Personal Notes:
I went to my oldest recipe box and started sorting cards. I found this immediately and I didn't even know I had it! It is written on the very first recipe cards I ever bought. (Nancy)
I added the picture of Grandma - all dressed up with apron on! I'll bet there were biscuits in the buffet too. The surprise in this picture is that you can see in Aunt Maude's reflection in the mirror! This picture is dated Christmas, 1976 (June)
