1 T butter
1 large onion sliced
3 cups of beef or chicken broth (condensed)
(beef better)
Salt
Ground pepper
10 slices of French or Italian bread toasted
¾ c grated Gruyere cheese (or Swiss)

Directions:
Directions:
Melt in sauce pan – sauté onion 10 min until browned.
Add salt & pepper and bring to a boil. Cook 10 minutes.
Place 1/3 of bread in bottom of oven casserole.
Sprinkle part of cheese. Add more bread and more cheese. Fill with hot liquid.
Sprinkle with rest of cheese.
400 degree oven 3-5 minutes
