1 1/2 tbsp. butter.
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder.
3/4 cup white sugar.
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon.
1 egg.
1/8 tsp. salt.
1/2 egg yoke.
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg.
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice.
1/4 cup & 2 tbsp. finely chopped walnuts.
1 cup & 3 tbsp. All-purpose flour.

1. Preheated oven to 375º F ( 190º C). Lightly grease baking sheets. 2. Cream the butter, sugar,1 egg, egg yolk and lemon juice together until fluffy. 3. Combine the flour,baking powder,cinnamon, salt and nutmeg. Add the flour mixture to. the creamed mixture and stir in the chopped nuts. 4. On the lightly flour cloth-covered board roll the dough, 1/3 at a time, to 1/16 in. thick. Cut with 1 in. star shaped cookie cutter. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets. Brush the tops of the cookies with the remaining egg white, beaten until frothy. 5. Bake at 375º F( 190º C) for 6-8 min. 6. Variations: Food coloring may be added to the egg white brushed on the tops of the cookies. Two cookies may be put together to form snowflakes with dabs of confectioner's sugar icing made with 1 cup confectioner's sugar, 1/2 tsp. Vanilla and 1 to 1 1/2 tbsp. Cream.

1. Cloth usually refers to cheesecloth often used in cooking but I am sure you can use baking paper. 2. When preping remember to put aside your second half of the egg whites for step 4.
