1/4 cup shortening (Crisco)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
3 1/2 - 4 cups flour
1 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl cream shortening, add sugar then well beaten eggs. Sift baking powder, salt, nutmeg with flour. Add flour alternately with milk to the first mixture. (you may need more flour to make dough stiff enough to handle)

Toss dough on floured surface. Roll 1/2" thick and cut into strips. Twist dough and fry in hot oil, browning both sides. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with icing sugar.
