2 lbs. butter
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
1 cup orange juice (no pulp)
4 lbs. flour
1 T. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla extract
4 bottles multi-colored cookie sprinkles


Icing:
Orange juice
Powdered sugar

Directions:
Beat eggs, sugar, juice vanilla together. Beat butter, then put in sugar/egg mixture.

Mix dry ingredients, then mix in with the egg/sugar/butter mixture.

Form 1 inch thick and 8 inch long rounded strips. Fold in half with ends touching, then twist.

Bake at 350º for about 8-10 minutes (light golden).

Icing:
Combine sugar and juice to make a glaze/icing

When cookies are still warm, place on wax paper and drizzle with icing and cookie sprinkles.

These are great Italian style cookies. Very buttery and so good with a warm cup of coffee or tea. This recipe makes a lot. You can easily cut in half and still have probably 3 dozen cookies. The part that takes the most time is rolling them out and forming into the twists. But it is totally worth it! Reminds me of Christmas time or a special occasion. This is the only recipe I have from Grammy Zdenek.
