2 c flour
1 c white sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
½ c brown sugar
½ c vegetable oil
5 unbeaten egg yolks
¾ c water
1 tsp maple flavour
1 c egg whites
½ tsp cream of tartar
1 c finely chopped walnuts

Directions:

Mix flour, white sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add brown sugar. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Add vegetable oil, egg yolks, water, and maple flavour. Beat with a wooden spoon. Measure egg whites into a large glass bowl and beat until frothy. Sprinkle with cream of tartar and continue beating until very stiff peaks form. Fold egg white mixture into other batter. Add walnuts. Put into a tube pan. Bake at 375ºF for 1 hour.
