¾ Cup Cocoa
¾ Cup Sifted Brown Sugar
1 ¼ Cups Scalded Milk
2/3 Cup Shortening
1 Teaspoon Salt
3 Unbeaten Eggs
2 Cups Sifted Cake Flour
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
½ Teaspoon Mace
¾ Teaspoon Baking Soda
1 Cup Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Measure and sift cocoa and brown sugar together. Add scalded milk gradually and stir until smooth. Let cool. Meanwhile cream shortening, add sugar and one egg at a time, beating after each addition. Sift flour, baking powder, soda, mace and salt together three times. Add to creamed mixture alternately with cocoa mixture. Add vanilla and beat until smooth. Bake in moderate oven (350 Degrees)
