½ Cup Shortening
1 Cup Sugar
1 Egg
1 ½ Cups Applesauce
2 Cups Flour
1 ½ Teaspoons Soda
2 Teaspoons of Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon of Cloves
1 Teaspoon of Nutmeg
1 Cup Raisins
½ Teaspoon of Salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add egg (well beaten), add applesauce, sift together all dry ingredients and add to the first mixture. Beat well and add raisins. Bake in moderate oven for forty minutes.
