1 c. milk
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. warm water (105º-115º)
2 pkg. active dry yeast
2 eggs, beaten, room temp
4 1/2 to 5 c. unsifted flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. extra butter, melted
1 T. extra cinnamon

Oven: 425º ~ Yield: about 2 dozen
Combine warm milk, 1/2 c. sugar, salt and 1/2 c. butter in large bowl. Sprinkle yeast over liquid; add water, stir. Mix in 2 c. flour at low speed of mixer; add eggs and spices, mixing at medium speed for 2 more minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to make soft, but not sticky dough. Cover to let raise until doubled, about 1 hour. Punch down; turn out on lightly floured surface. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness; cut into donut shapes; cover and let rise in a warm, draft-free place to double in size, about 30 min. Brush raised donuts with melted butter. Bake for 8 to 10 min. When golden brown, remove from oven; cool on wire rack; brush or dip in melted butter. Combine remaining 1 c. of sugar and 1 T. cinnamon in bag or shaker to coat the warm treats.
