3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 tbsp vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, soda and cream or tartar. Cream shortening and butter; add sugar and cream thoroughly. Add eggs and beat well. Add vanilla and flour mixture. Mix well. Shape in round or square loaf; wrap in waxed paper and let stand in cool place over night. Cut in this slices. Bake at 425º for 8 minutes. If desired, sprinkle with chopped nuts before baking. Makes 8 dozen.
