In a large pan, cook butter sugar and almonds on med/high heat stirring constantly. Cook for about 10-15 min. Stir mixture constantly until toffee starts to turn a little brown and you can smell a burning smell. Pour toffee onto ungreased cookie sheet. Break pieces of chocolate bar and place on hot toffee. Let sit and then spread chocolate to cover toffee. Sprinkle with remaining almonds. Let toffee set for about 1 hour before breaking into pieces.

This is one of Mom's most requested recipes. She made this every Christmas. It is the best toffee I have ever had!
