1 c. flour
1/2 c. each: brown and white sugar
1/2 tsp. each: soda and baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1/4 tsp. each vanilla, butter, nut flavorings
1 c. quick oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Oven 375º ~ Yield: about 3 1/2 dozen
Mix all dry ingredients except oats/nuts. Add and blend shortening, egg, and flavorings. Stir in oats and nuts. Butter the bottom of a glass and dip in sugar. Drop rounded T. of dough on cookie sheet and flatten with sugar-dipped glass or fork. Re-dip glass in sugar as needed. Bake about 10 min. These are crispy oat cookies and a good keeper, if you make a big batch.
