1 lb. pinto beans (dried)
1 tsp. salt
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup green pepper diced
1/2 cup celery chopped (opt.)
1 clove garlic chopped or crushed
4 tsp. chili powder
1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
2 cans tomatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Use 1/2 of beans (1 1/4 cup). Add beans to 9 cups boiling water with 1 tsp. salt. Reduce heat. Boil gently uncovered about 1 1/4 hours or until tender. Stir occasionally. If you need to add water use boiling water. Drain beans reserving 1 cup liquid. Cook meat. Add other vegetables. Cook 5 minutes. Add seasonings. Break up tomatoes. Add to meat. Add beans and liquid. Bring to boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 1 hour.
