Directions:
In a medium bowl, proof yeast with sugar and water until bubbly and double in size.
When yeast has proofed, add flour and mix well. Pour into a jar, cover tightly and let stand at room temperature for 2 days. Then refrigerate for 1 day.

Whenever you use starter, you need to "Feed it," replenish with 1/2 C. Flour, 1/2 C. warm Water and 1/2 tsp. Sugar. Let stand at room temperature 12-24 hours and then place in the refrigerator. It is then ready to make your favorite Sourdough Recipe.
To nourish your starter, stir with a wooden spoon every 5-6 days to keep it alive and active. The longer you have your starter the richer the sourdough flavor will develop.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Label your jar indicating it is Sourdough starter, other \wise it may be mistaken for Mayonnaise gone bad and your husband will throw it away, isn't this right Dean?
