1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
6 tbsp. heavy syrup
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
or
1 tsp. lemon extract
3 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, corn syrup, flavourings and baking soda. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough.
Roll thin and cut the cookies. Bake at 350ºF for 7 - 8 minutes on a greased cookie sheet.
Sandwich the cookies together with jam or icing while the cookies are still warm.
