3/4 c.soft butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs,separated
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
6 oz. choc chips
1 c. coconut-optional
3/4 c. nuts-optional
1. c. brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350. Grease 9x13 pan. Blend butter, 1/2 c. brown sugar, sugar and egg yolks and vanilla. Beat 2 min. Stir in dry ingredients into creamed mixture until thoroughly mixed. Spread dough in pan. Sprinkle choc chips, nuts and coconut-(I just use the choc chips) you need to press chips down into dough. Beat egg whites until frothy and add 1 c. brown sugar and beat until stiff, but not dry. Spread on top of choc chips. Bake 35-40 min.

I have written on my recipe card that these were a Slagell Special-the Nasty Cookie name came from Virgil. I remember taking these out to the field during wheat harvest.
