2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 T. milk


*optional- food colouring and /or edible decorations

Sift flour, salt, and baking powder. Cream shortening and sugar together, add eggs and vanilla, then sifted dry ingredients and milk. Roll & cut. ** Sprinkle with sugar and / or decorate, then bake on cookie sheet @375ºF for 10 to 12 min.


** This is where it gets creative. We've tried green wreaths & holly, decorated bells & girls/ boys, snowflakes, etc. for Christmas, with sprinkles, little gold & silver balls, so use your imagination & have fun with the cookie cutters!

These were a a favourite childhood memory, spending an afternoon all together decorating cookies for Christmas, year after year. Lots of fun, the more the merrier!
