1 c. shortening
1 sticks oleo
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
4 c. flour
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda

Filling:
1 pound chopped dates
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. water
1 c. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs slowly. Add sifted dry ingredients. Add vanilla. Cook filling until thick. Cool and spread on dough. Roll dough in sheet. Bake 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
