1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups flour
1/2 cup lard (or shortening)

Directions:
Directions:
Put soda in buttermilk. Add to remaining ingredients. Roll thin, sprinkle with sugar, roll again. Bake in moderate oven (350 ºF).
