2 c. flour
2 c. regular oats
2 c. sugar
1 c. coconut
2 sticks butter (melted)
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. boiling water
2 T. golden syrup

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together flour, oats, sugar and coconut. Set aside.
Mix the baking soda into the boiling water, then mix this with the syrup and melted butter. Pour over the dry ingredients and mix well. Place small ball on greased cookie sheet and flatten.
Bake for 15 min; or until golden brown. Bake in 350º oven.

These cookies were made for soldiers in WWI, because they will keep for a month in tins.
