1/2 lb butter
1/2 lb baking flour
1/2 lb sugar
6 eggs
4 oz corn starch
1 tsp royal baking powder
1 lemon
1 shot of liquor
1 tsp vanilla extract

optional
coconut flakes
nuts
rasins

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350
beat on medium speed the butter and the sugar until creamy.
add the eggs one by one
sift in the flour,corn starch and baking powder gradually until well mixed
then add lemon juice,vanilla,liquor, beat on medium until mixed well.

butter and flour the baking dish you will use
pour in the batter
at this point you can add the optional ingredients (right on top.)
bake in the oven for 45 minutes or until golden brown
test the center of the cake with a toothpick in the thickest part, if it comes out clean it is done!
when done remove from oven
let cool a bit
and enjoy with a hot cup of coffee.

The smell of this cake baking in my oven brings me right back to the late nights Abue would spend making us elaborate cakes for our birthdays!
