A pomegranate, look for ones with smooth skins. If you want sweet fruit, leave them on the counter for a few days, if you refrigerate them, they'll be tart. Either way, great to add to salads or eat plain!!

Wash the fruit, take a sharp knife and score the peel around the middle, just cutting through the peel, pull the pomegranate apart, it will separate into 2 halves, take one of the halves, turn it over in your hand, peel side up and hold it over a bowl. Take a wooden spoon and hit the peel with the spoon part of the wooden spoon. The seeds will fall out into the bowl, keep hitting the peel until they are all out. Pick out any membrane that falls into the bowl.

I hated to try to pick seeds out of a pomegranate, saw this on facebook and it really works!! I remember when they banned pomegranates at school when I was in High School because of the mess they made!
