1 C milk
1 T melted butter
1 C white flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:
Do not preheat oven. The secret to perfect popovers is to start with a cold oven.
Put all ingredients in a large bowl and mix thoroughly, without over beating. Half fill muffin tins, custard cups or popover tins. Put them in a cold oven and set the heat for 450º. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350º and bake for another 15-20 minutes. Test one to be sure it is done by removing if from the pan. It should be crisp outside and moist and tender inside.

I have never done whole wheat but you can make them by substituting 2/3 C whole wheat and1/3 C of white flour for the white flour in this recipe. The will not rise as high.
