1 1/2 C firmly packed brown sugar
2/3 C vegetable oil
1 egg

1 C sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 C flour
1 1/2 C chopped apples
1/2 C chopped nuts
1/3 c sugar
1 tsp melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
Combine brown sugar and vegetable oil, and egg. In a small bowl combine; sour milk or buttermilk, baking soda, salt, vanilla. Add milk mixture to sugar mixture alternately with flour. Mix well. Fold in apples and nuts and pour into greased muffin pan and sprinkle 1/3 sugar with 1 tsp melted butter. Bake at 325º for 30 minutes.
