1/4 cup margarine
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup mashed bananas (about 3)
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk or sour milk**
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In a bowl cream margarine, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat in bananas.

Mix together the dry ingredients. Beat into egg mixture alternately with buttermilk (starting and ending with flour mixture). Stir in chocolate chips.

Lightly butter and flour a 9 X 13 pan or two loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until cake springs back when pressed in center.

** To sour milk, add 2 tsp lemon juice or vinegar to 1/2 cup milk and let stand for 10 minutes.
