2 C. Applesauce
1 tsp. Baking soda
1 C. shortening (1/2 c. butter and 1/2 c. shortening-if desired)
2 C. sugar
4 eggs
4 C. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. chocolate chips (Jake and Shannon like 2 pkgs. MORE CHOCOLATE!)

In a separate bowl mix the applesauce and soda together.
In a larger bowl mix shortening and sugar together. Well mixed then add eggs until creamy. Add applesauce mixture. After all mixed add dry ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips. The batter should be like a thick cake batter. Grease pan with shortening and put 12 cookies on the sheet. Bake 350º in oven for 12 min.

This is THE COOKIE RECIPE! It has been a family treat for years and it is Jake's favorite. One day he called me and left me an emergency message saying for me to call him immediately............I did and he informed me he needed these cookies made ASAP! ( I complied) The kids would always stop at grandma Booth's house after school to have cookies and this was the favorite! Thanks to Grandma Booth!
