2 Cups flour
2 Cups sugar
2 cubes of butter
1 cup water
4 T. cocoa
2 beaten eggs
1/2 c. milk /with 1 T. of lemon juice (makes sub for buttermilk)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Frosting
1 cube butter
6 T. milk
4 T. cocoa
1 lb. powered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup nuts-if desired

Directions:

Sift flour and sugar together. Bring butter, water and cocoa to a boil in saucepan. Pour into flour and sugar. Mix well. Add rest of ingredients and mix well. Pour into large jelly roll pan (large cookie sheet with 1 inch edge. well greased and floured. Bake 20 min. at 400º.

When warm pour frosting mixture over cake.

Grandma Mills would fix this delicious cake for anyone that had a birthday. She was a fantastic cook and loved her family so much! We miss her fixing this wonderful cake. But you can make it and remember her!
