Ingredients:
Ingredients:
¼ cup butter (½ stick)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half, or even 2% milk)
½ to ¾ teaspoon garlic salt (or try Cajun seasoning)
⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

12-oz. fettuccine (or any pasta shape you prefer), cooked according to package directions in lightly salted water

Directions:
Directions:
Begin preparing the alfredo sauce while water is coming to a boil to cook the pasta.

Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Whisk cornstarch with a little milk or cream until smooth. Add cream, cornstarch, garlic salt and pepper to the butter in the saucepan. Blend together well with a whisk. Simmer on very low heat until thick, stirring frequently.

When the pasta is almost ready, remove the sauce from the heat and add the Parmesan cheese, mixing until smooth. Drain the pasta and toss with the alfredo sauce, coating well. Add more salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately with extra Parmesan cheese and freshly ground black pepper.

Nice additions: grilled chicken breast pieces, cooked broccoli florets, cooked peas, sautéed mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and/or crumbled bacon (easy with Hormel Real Crumbled Bacon).
