1 large acorn squash
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp butter or margarine
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Wash squash. Cut in half lengthwise. Remove and discard the seeds and membrane. Cut each half into 2 inch slices, leaving on the rind. Place in a skillet or pot with 1/2 cup of water and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer on low for 20 minutes. Drain and put into a serving dish. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves and syrup turn golden, keep a good eye on it and don't let it cook to long. Remove from heat and add lemon juice, butter, salt and pepper. Stir until butter melts. Drizzle over squash and toss.
