1 cup butter softened
1/2 cup icing sugar
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup cornstarch

Frosting:
2 Tbsp. butter softened
1 1/2 cups icing sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
2-3 drops food colouring (optional)
1/2 cup crushed candy canes

Directions:
Directions:
In a small bowl, cream butter and icing sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in extract. Combine flour and cornstarch; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Shape into balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350ºF for 10-12 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Frosting:
In a small bowl, beat butter until fluffy. Add the icing sugar, milk, extract and food colouring. Beat until smooth. Spread over the cooled cookies; sprinkle with the crushed candy canes. Store in an airtight container or freeze.
