Bowl 1
4 or 5 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 c sugar

Bowl 2
2 sticks softened butter
1/2 c vegetable oil
1 Tbsp. Anise extract

Bowl 3
4 eggs
1/2 c sour cream or evaporated milk

Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar mixed with about 1/4 c of water
Add about 3 tsp of anise extract and 1/4 c. whiskey. (optional, but gives the right flavor. This makes a thin icing.

Mix each bowl's ingredients separately
Make a well in the flour mixture. Pour the other 2 bowls into the well.
Mix thoroughly with a spoon until all the flour is incorporated and the dough begins to stick together and form a ball.
It will be a little sticky, but you should be able to handle it.
Chill dough at this point.
To form cookies, use a teaspoon of dough, roll it between your palms and then coil it into a "snail" shape
Place on lightly greased cookie sheets ( or use parchment paper)
Bake at 350º for about 15 minutes or till lightly browned. Cool and Glaze

To glaze, using tongs, dip each cookie into icing, let excess drip off into bowl.
Place on waxed paper and let dry. Might need to flip the cookies over so both sides can dry. Store in an airtight container.
