1 lb. ground beef, ground turkey or ground chicken, browned
2 (28 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes
2 medium onions, quartered
2 medium carrots, cut into small pieces
2 garlic cloves, minced
6 oz. tomato paste
2 tbsp. chopped parsley
1 bay leaf
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. dried basil
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
2 tbsp. cold water
2 tbsp. cornstarch

Directions:
Directions:
Brown meat and drain. Place in slow cooker.

In blender, combine 1 can tomatoes, onions, carrots and garlic. Blend until finely chopped and stir into meat. Add remaining tomatoes, tomato paste, parsley, bay leaf, sugar, basil, salt, oregano and pepper.

Cover. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.

Twenty minutes before serving, increase temperature to high. Combine water and cornstarch and stir into sauce. Cook an additional 10 minutes and then let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
