1 lb sliced bacon
1 medium yellow onion chopped
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Cut bacon into 1/2-1" pieces. Put in a skillet and cook over med heat until bacon is crispy. Stir occasionally.
When bacon is about half way cooked add chopped onion to the skillet and continue cooking until bacon is crisp.
Clean green beans, remove strings and ends, break into 2-3" pieces. Place green beans in a large pot.
When the bacon and onions are done add them to the green beans along with about 6 or 7 Tbls of the bacon grease.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Add 2 cups of water to pot, cover and cook over medium heat for about an hour, depending on how soft you want the green beans. Stir occasionally and add water if necessary. (Just enough to keep the beans from burning to the bottom of the pan)

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Grandma used to cook her green beans a couple of hours, so that the green beans were really limp.
