1 1/2 cups raisins
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Boil raisins in 1 1/2 cups water until water is absorbed and raisins are plump. Cool for 30 minutes.
Mix together the butter or margarine and the sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and eggs.
Mix the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder in a medium bowl. Add to the batter; fold in raisins. Form into balls by the teaspoonful and roll in sugar. Put on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 - 10 minutes.
